4 Signs that You Have Outgrown Your Role…
Hello there!
I want to talk to you today about 4 signs that you have outgrown your current role.
You’re bored with your work. The work doesn’t excite you anymore, it’s very repetitive, you feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over again. You have not been able to find any more challenge in it. You can’t find a better way to do it. This is a sign you’ve outgrown your role.
You can do it in your sleep/ on autopilot. It is somewhat similar to the first sign, but it’s really a situation where you are not using hardly intellect at all. You’re using pretty much like a tiny inkling of your brain to get the work done. That’s definitely a sign that you have outgrown that role.
Your leader is consistently asking you to step into more and more of his/her work. This can be great; However, if this is happening over a long period of time, over a year or so, and there is no change in either your role or your compensation you might want to question whether you should stay in the same role. At some point, you should have a conversation with your leader regarding future potential opportunities either in that team or in another team within the organization.
You have outgrown your role if that you’re working peers perceive you as “doing too much” consistently. I would always advise you not to pay very much attention to what other people think of what you’re doing if you perceive yourself in the right lane doing the right work within the right time frame. However, if you feel as if your performance starkly contrasts from your peers, it may be a sign that you’re in the wrong role and it’s time for you to move on because you have outgrown it.
I hope these little hints help you as far as assessing your position. If you think it may benefit someone else, feel free to share it with others as well.
